Recent Photo LA
In January my work was featured in the Susan Spiritus Gallery booth at the Los Angeles fine art photography fair, Photo LA. It’s a three day gathering of some 70 photography galleries, dealers, and publishers from around the world. There is a staggering number of images on view, from tiny 19th century daguerreotypes to wall-sized 21st century digital prints. It’s a fascinating, and sometimes overwhelming, look at the current state of photography and what the medium means to different people.
My wife Karen and I have shown here with Susan for the last ten years. Our expectations in the face of the dismal economy were somewhere below low this time, but surprisingly things went quite well in terms of sales. Perhaps there is a germ of confidence returning. And possibly, too, people value art as a life affirming force in troubling times.
